Three Ways to Get Tested
What you pay depends on your insurance.
We take your insurance
Your office visit and lab tests go through your plan. We accept Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Empire, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare.
Your insurance isn't one we take
You pay a $90 office visit. We send your tests to a lab that takes your insurance, so your lab work and prescriptions still go through your plan.
No insurance, or you'd rather not use it
Rapid tests: results in 30 minutes, $70–$180 per test, no office visit fee. Not every infection has a rapid test.
Lab tests: a $90 office visit plus the lab fee — a full panel (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, chlamydia, and gonorrhea) is $144. We post every lab price on our site, and Northwell bills you directly, usually within a month.
HSA and FSA cards accepted. Credit card payments add a 3.5% fee; no fee on debit, HSA, or FSA cards.

It depends on your insurance — the three options above show each cost. Without insurance, rapid tests start at $70 with no visit fee, and every lab price is listed on our STD testing prices page.
Can I get free STD testing in NYC?
Yes — the city runs low- or no-cost sexual health clinics, but most close at 3:30 PM on weekdays, are closed on weekends, and can take up to 7–10 days for results. Patients come here for a doctor, rapid results in 30 minutes, and evening and Saturday hours.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Yes — up to 30 minutes before closing: 6:30 PM on weekdays and 3:30 PM on Saturdays. Booking online holds your spot.
How fast are results?
Rapid tests: 30 minutes. Lab tests: blood work in 1–2 days; urine and swab tests in 3–5 days.
Is STD testing confidential?
Yes. Federal privacy law (HIPAA) protects your visit and results, and we share them only when the law requires it. If you use insurance, the visit may appear on statements sent to the person whose name is on the plan; paying yourself keeps it off your insurance.
What happens at my visit?
You talk with the doctor in a private room, then give a urine, swab, or blood sample depending on your tests.
Do you see patients under 18?
No. We see patients 18 and older.
